Driving is dangerous. We all know that, but freak accidents show us how truly dangerous driving can be. Unfortunately, this happened recently on Route 287 when a local had to be taken by medical helicopter to the hospital.
The incident
According to the New Jersey State Police, the freak accident on Roue 287 happened Thursday morning around 8:30 a.m. At that time, a vehicle driving northbound lost a tire for unknown reasons. The wheel careened into and over the median into the southbound lanes. That is where it impacted a Ford Fusion just south of Skyline Drive near Exit 58 in Oakland. This caused the Fusion to hit the right and median barriers before leaving the road and going into the woods.
After the car accident
After the car accident, NJSP had to shut down southbound 287 to allow for a medical helicopter to land. They picked up the driver of the Fusion after the 29-year-old Spring Valley man was extracted by first responders. His daughter was also injured and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone who witnessed the car accident or who has dashboard camera footage is asked to call NJSP at 973-785- 9419.
What to do after a car accident
Unfortunately, car accidents are largely unavoidable, and given enough time, we are all going to be involved in one. But, for those in Lawnside, New Jersey, involved in one, call an attorney immediately. The attorney can help car accident victims get civil justice and hold the negligent driver responsible for their actions.
