New Jersey car accidents: Fatal crash caused by wrong-way driver

On Behalf of Fishman & Fishman, LLC | Apr 19, 2017 | Car Accidents |

A fatal crash that occurred on Easter Sunday is being investigated by New Jersey authorities. Two people died in the wreck, and three others were injured. Following car accidents of this nature, if negligence is believed to have contributed, victims or their surviving family members may have legal recourse.

According to a recent news report, a 31-year-old male was driving his vehicle on Route 9 when his car was struck by a minivan. He died in the wreck, and his three passengers all suffered injuries. As of the latest report, two of the passengers were initially listed in serious condition, while the other was treated and released.

The 51-year-old male deemed responsible for this incident also died in the crash. According to police, they believe he was driving the wrong way when he collided with the victim’s car. The investigation is still ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the wreck or has relevant information about this case to come forward.

Little can be said that will help ease the pain and suffering that the surviving victims and the family members of the deceased are going through right now. This was a tragic event that has changed their lives forever. The burdens associated with car accidents like this do not have to be shouldered alone, however. In this case, those injured, and the surviving family members of the deceased, may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses by filing civil claims against the estate of the individual believed responsible for the wreck. An experienced personal injury and wrongful death attorney can review each individual case and assist in pursuing damages by filing and litigating the appropriate legal claims in a New Jersey court.
