Drunk driving accidents in New Jersey take toll on pedestrians

On Behalf of Fishman & Fishman, LLC | May 27, 2015 | Drunk Driving Accidents |

Drunk driving accidents in New Jersey can have serious consequences to a person’s life and property when the accident involves only vehicles. However, the outcome of drunk driving accidents that involve a vehicle and a pedestrian can be even more dire. A recent accident resulted in a pedestrian being seriously injured by a drunk driver.

The accident occurred on a Saturday night in May. A 43-year-old woman driver who had allegedly been drinking hit a pedestrian then fled the scene of the accident. The accident occurred in Florence, Burlington County. The pedestrian was taken to a local medical center with serious injuries.

A passing driver saw the accident, followed the driver and alerted the police. This led to the driver’s arrest shortly thereafter. The driver faces many charges, including but not limited to drunken driving, leaving the accident’s scene, having an open container and assault by auto.

When serious injuries result from drunk driving accidents in New Jersey, there might be many questions on the victim’s mind and it can be difficult to know what to do next. Between paying for medical expenses and dealing with bills and lost revenue as he or she recovers, there are many factors to consider. The victim or the victim’s family in this recent accident might consult with a personal injury lawyer who understands and is experienced with the confusing and often complex set of issues that happens when a drunk driving accident occurs. Not only will a lawyer in this field be able to explain the options for legal recourse available to the victim, but also advocate for his or her rights in the matter.
