Here are some of the most dangerous jobs in America

On Behalf of Fishman & Fishman, LLC | Jun 1, 2021 | Workers' Compensation |

It might not seem like it, but every job has its own dangers. Those who work in a warehouse can be susceptible to injuries related to heavy lifting and twisting, while those who work in an office setting can be hurt in a trip and fall or by repetitive motion. But the level of danger isn’t equal across all professions, of course. With that in mind, let’s look at some of the most dangerous occupations.

  • Fishing and hunting: Workers in this industry tend to see the highest fatality rates. This is likely on account of the dangerous conditions that can be found in the ocean, where quick decisions have to be made in hazardous conditions. Slip-and-fall and crushing accidents are common here.
  • Roofers: These workers came in at number four on the list of the most deadly jobs for 2019. It’s no surprise, either. Falls from significant heights are the top concern with these workers, but they can also suffer serious injuries related to the equipment that they use.
  • Construction workers: Construction workers aren’t far behind roofers when it comes to workplace injuries and fatalities. These individuals are oftentimes at risk of being crushed by large machinery, being struck by moving vehicles, falling from faulty scaffolding, and being hit by falling objects.
  • Drivers: Truck and delivery drivers also make the list, which isn’t much of a surprise given the number of miles they put in. These workers usually suffer injuries in accidents, but they can also be harmed when loading and unloading cargo or performing maintenance on their vehicle.

Why does this list matter?

This list helps show that there are a number of professions out there that can result in serious workplace injuries. So, if you’ve been injured on the job, then you should know that you’re not alone and that you’re not the only one who has had to try to navigate the challenging waters of a workers’ compensation claim.

But you can’t let your stress and frustration lead to mistakes in the claim process, as doing so could leave you without the financial resources that you need to care for your family and pay for your recovery. That’s why if you’ve suffered a workplace injury, then now may be the time to work with a legal professional to build your workers’ compensation claim.
