Multiple car accidents in New Jersey

On Behalf of | Nov 28, 2017 | Car Accidents |

Multiple accidents, some involving pedestrians, started a recent week off on a sour note for several New Jersey towns. Four people died, and one person was said to be in critical condition. Many families are mourning the loss of their loved ones today after the car accidents occurred. Two female pedestrians were hurt in separate accidents; a 69-year-old died, and an 80-year-old suffered serious injuries.

According to the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office, the pedestrian who was killed was struck by an SUV that was headed east in Sayreville about 6:15 p.m. on a Friday. The woman was not in a crosswalk when the accident happened. The other pedestrian was hit in Toms River as she crossed a local avenue. There are no reports whether she was in a crosswalk at the time.

In Monmouth County, a 46-year-old man died after a sedan in which he was a passenger struck a tree on Route 18. He was pronounced dead at the scene. In a one-car crash the same day, a driver was ejected and pronounced dead in Paterson. Both accidents are still under investigation, and no details were available yet. Police also reported a series of rollover crashes, but no one suffered serious injuries.

Car accidents of any kind can have life-changing consequences. When someone in New Jersey is injured or killed in a motor vehicle crash, grounds may exist for a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit. An experienced attorney can help victims, or the surviving families of deceased victims, determine what avenues for legal recourse are available.
