New Jersey car accidents: Driver dies following crash

On Behalf of Fishman & Fishman, LLC | Oct 31, 2017 | Car Accidents |

A New Jersey family is in mourning after their loved one died after first surviving a one-car crash. The 27-year-old driver was killed in another car crash on Route 80 just moments after the first one. New Jersey State Police are unsure what may have caused the two car accidents.

Police said they do not know why the man’s car careened into a guardrail at the median or why it came to a stop in the center lane of the highway. At 3:24 a.m. on a recent Sunday, the man exited his vehicle on the highway. It was then hit by a second car and struck the man, propelling him onto the roadway. The rear passenger in the other car sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at Morristown Medical Center. The front seat passenger and driver were unhurt.

Several vehicles had stopped when authorities responded to the scene. The man was lying in the road suffering from severe bodily injuries, and he was declared dead shortly thereafter. As of Sunday, the victim’s name has not been released. Authorities were on the scene for five hours, and the investigation is continuing into the accident.

It is a terrible tragedy when a family member dies in such horrific car accidents, and this family is feeling that pain. Though no charges have been filed, it may be in the family’s best interest to consult with a personal injury attorney. In New Jersey, a dedicated lawyer will be able to determine if any negligence or wrongdoing has occurred by conducting a thorough investigation.
