Police in New Jersey are investigating an accident between a school bus and a transit bus. This incident reportedly occurred the morning of Jan. 16, in New Brunswick. When car accidents of this nature occur, the victims may be able to seek compensation for their losses through legal means.

According to a local news report, a transit bus was struck from behind by a school bus while it was stopped in the right lane of Route 18. The driver of the transit bus was letting a person off when, at the same time, the driver of the school bus changed lanes and collided with the transit bus. Authorities have not stated if any charges are pending against either of the drivers.

As a result of this accident, 15 children were transported to a medical facility. At least one of them, a 4-year-old, is said to have a broken leg. Several adult passengers on the transit bus were also injured and were transported to a hospital for care. The current conditions of all those injured have not been released.

When it comes to car accidents such as this one, determining liability is not always an easy thing. A full investigation into the matter is necessary in order to determine whose actions caused this event. In this case, victims may be able to file civil claims against one or both drivers and/or their employers in an effort to seek monetary damages. An experienced personal injury attorney can assist those interested in pursing civil actions by filing and litigating any applicable legal claims against the appropriate parties in a New Jersey court.
