A New Jersey police officer was recently hurt while was attempting to help those involved in a serious car accident. This incident occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 15, in Union County. As the officer was on-duty when the injuries occurred, he or she has the right to access workers’ compensation benefits to aid in the recovery process.

It was recently reported that a two-vehicle crash in Roselle resulted in two people losing their lives. The details of the crash are still being sorted out by investigators. However, authorities have indicated that both drivers were headed in the same direction on Route 27 when one car hit a utility pole and the other hit a building. One of the drivers died at the scene of the crash, while the other passed away after being transported to an area hospital.

An on-duty officer arrived shortly after the crash occurred. This individual is said to have made a heroic effort to save the lives of the victims. Unfortunately, while doing so, he or she suffered a serious injury. The details of how the injury occurred or the extent of the damages sustained has not been reported. The identity of the officer has not been made public.

Sadly, it is not uncommon for police officers in New Jersey and elsewhere to suffer injuries while on the job. When work injuries do occur, workers’ compensation benefits may be utilized to help employees get back on their feet — so to speak. However, there are those who may find it a struggle to receive the full benefits to which they are entitled. An experienced workers’ compensation attorney can assist those who have been injured while working in achieving full and fair compensation for their losses. Further assistance may also be offered in filing any third-party personal injury or other legal claims that may be applicable to one’s case.
