New Jersey State Police are investigating a crash that killed a child and left four others injured. This incident reportedly occurred Aug. 20 in Bayonne. When car accidents result in death and/or injury, as this one did, those negatively affected may be devastated in a number of ways. In accordance with state laws, they may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses through legal means.
According to a recent report, a total of five automobiles were involved in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike at the Hudson Bay extension. The driver of a truck rear-ended one of the vehicles, causing a chain reaction collision. A 5-year-old child that was located in the rear of the first car to be impacted was injured, and sadly, this individual died shortly after being taken Jersey City Medical Center. Four other people also suffered injuries and were transported to an area hospital. The exact nature of their injuries has not been reported.
It is unknown if the driver deemed responsible was injured in the wreck. According to authorities, this individual claimed that he did not see the cars in front of him coming to a stop. At the time of the latest report, no charges had been filed in this case.
It is unfortunate that so many car accidents occur due to drivers not putting their full attention on the road. If that is what happened in this case, the individual believed responsible may be held liable for any damages sustained by the victims and the family members of the deceased. Personal injury and wrongful death claims may be filed in a New Jersey court in an effort to seek damages. Monetary judgments may be awarded to those who are — with the assistance of legal counsel — able to establish negligence to the satisfaction of the court.
