It all seems so simple. A driver heading north will keep his car in the northbound lane; a driver heading south will keep his car in the southbound lane. When this happens, traffic typically flows as it should, and drivers arrive at their destination. However, when a driver does not follow this norm, car accidents such a recent accident on a New Jersey highway can cause harm to one or both of the drivers involved.
Police records indicate that a 28-year-old man was driving north when he suddenly veered into the southbound lane. This action resulted in a collision with a teenage driver who was heading south. Both drivers were injured, and the highway was temporarily closed to allow for an appropriate investigation.
In this instance, the driver of the northbound vehicle was airlifted to the hospital with his condition stated as fair. The teenage driver was transported by ambulance with his condition stated as serious. An investigation is currently being conducted, and no charges have been filed at this time. However, it appears that these injuries are the result of the actions of only one of these drivers even though both drivers were injured.
Once the proper New Jersey authorities have completed their investigation, the issue of exactly who is at fault will be clearer. Car accidents are unfortunately a daily occurrence. Depending on the extent of the injuries and losses suffered by the innocent driver, it is possible that he will decide that it is in his or their best interest to seek relief through the court system.
