2 injured workers may seek workers’ compensation after accident

On Behalf of Fishman & Fishman, LLC | Feb 4, 2016 | Workers' Compensation |

Two construction workers were recently involved in an incident at work that resulted in both suffering injuries. The incident occurred in Hudson County on a recent Friday in January. When New Jersey workers suffer injuries while at work, they are legally entitled to submit claims for workers’ compensation benefits.

The incident occurred when a caisson rolled into the two workers near the intersection of two roads. A caisson is a large, watertight chamber that construction workers use to work under water. It is not currently clear how the caisson was released and rolled into the two workers, Bayonne police say.

The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. It left a 36-year-old Scranton, Pa. man with a lacerated arm as well as a 37-year-old man from Franklin with a leg that was possibly fractured, police say. The two men were rushed to a local medical center in Bayonne to be treated for their injuries. The company or contractor the men were working for at the time of the accident was not revealed by police.

New Jersey workers who are employed in any type of construction realize that their jobs may often come with certain hazards as well as a higher risk of an incident occurring. However, this does not diminish the fact that these workers have rights when they suffer injuries in a work-related incident. In fact, those injured in construction accidents are legally entitled to file for workers’ compensation benefits to aid them in their recovery. Injured workers typically consult and enlist the help of an experienced workers’ compensation attorney to assist them with the process of submitting this type of claim.
