Recent New Jersey drunk driving accidents: 1 injured in crash

On Behalf of | Dec 24, 2015 | Drunk Driving Accidents |

A man was recently injured after being involved in two-car accident. The accident occurred in Gloucester Township on a recent Tuesday night in December. When New Jersey residents suffer serious injuries in drunk driving accidents due, they are typically entitled to file a personal injury claim against the party believed responsible.

Police in Gloucester Township say a vehicle was headed westbound on a local roadway around 11:30 p.m. when a car operated by a 43-year-old man in the eastbound lane of traffic drifted into its lane. Ahead-on collision occurred. The driver of the westbound vehicle was entrapped in the vehicle due to the severity of the collision.

Fire crews and emergency personnel extricated the driver, who was rushed to a local medical center for treatment. The driver of the eastbound car was allegedly driving while intoxicated when the accident occurred. His charges included DWI and assault by auto.

If prosecutors manage to secure a conviction on one of the charges related to the accident, that might be used as evidence in a personal injury claim to prove negligence on the part of the driver. When successfully navigated, a claim of this nature sometimes results in the entry of a monetary judgment, the compensation from which can be used to lessen some of the financial losses typically associated with drunk driving accidents. New Jersey residents who find themselves in a similar situation typically seek the help of an experienced personal injury attorney to establish the validity of their claim as well as for ongoing legal support, including any necessary litigation.
