Recent New Jersey car accidents: 2 suffer serious injuries

On Behalf of Fishman & Fishman, LLC | Sep 9, 2015 | Car Accidents |

Car accidents are an unfortunate fact of life. Often the individuals involved escape with minor injuries, but some New Jersey car accidents result in serious injuries, or worse. Such was the case in a recent two-car crash.

The Bedford County accident occurred in early September in Medford. According to police, a sedan driven by a 65-year-old man from Southampton turned left at an intersection while a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old man from Mount Holly was entering the intersection. The two vehicles collided with one another, broadside.

The second vehicle was pushed down the road and then ran into a utility pole. The crash crushed the first vehicle’s door, effectively pinning the man inside his vehicle and injuring his lower leg.  Both drivers were rushed to separate local medical centers, where they were treated for the serious injuries they suffered.

Currently, charges are still pending and may not be formally filed until the investigation is completed. Separately, the victim will be entitled to file a personal injury claim for financial relief against the driver believed to have been at fault. A successfully navigated lawsuit may result in the entry of a monetary judgment, and any restitution paid can be used to help alleviate the inherent financial burdens often imposed on victims of serious car accidents. Accident victims in New Jersey typically consult a personal injury attorney in order to determine the validity of a legal claim as well as for ongoing support as they seek justice through the civil justice system.
