The screech of tires, the deafening sound of metal colliding against metal and the shattering of glass. These are the sounds that cars’ occupants often hear when they have been involved in car accidents. As some New Jersey residents know, these sounds can haunt them for the rest of their lives.
According to Galloway police, it was shortly after 12:20 a.m. on a recent Saturday when a sedan driven by a 20-year-old female driver got into a car accident with another passenger car being driven by a 21-year-old male. The accident closed down Wrangleboro Road until around 2:30 a.m. Both vehicles incurred severe damage and were towed away.
According to the police, the 20-year-old female was driving north on Wrangleboro when, for reasons that have yet to be made clear, her vehicle crossed the road’s center line and struck the other vehicle. Both the 20-year-old female driver and her 21-year-old passenger were rushed to a local medical center to be treated for leg injuries as well as internal injuries. The male driver of the vehicle that was hit was also rushed to the medical center for internal injuries and lacerations.
Local police are still investigating this accident. If and when charges are formally filed and if prosecutors secure a conviction on a charge related to the car accident and the serious injuries that were suffered, this charge may be used as evidence in a personal injury claim. The conviction could help to establish negligence on the part of the female driver. This is required to be proved before a civil court will begin to consider any award of damages.
