In some lines of work in New Jersey, the risk of injury often goes hand in hand with a worker’s job responsibilities. Some lines of work, however, include an increased chance of suffering a serious, or sometimes fatal, injury. A construction worker was recently fatally injured on the job, according to the authorities. As a result, it is possible that the individual’s loved ones may file a workers’ compensation claim in order to lessen some of the financial setbacks often associated with a fatal work injury.

According to police, a 67-year-old man who was working at a construction site in Sayreville died on a recent Monday. While on the job site, a piece of equipment struck the man. Authorities were alerted by a 911 call a little before 9 a.m. that reported the accident.

When the first responders arrived at the scene of the accident, they immediately rushed the man to a local medical center. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries. OSHA as well as the local and state police are investigating this accident, according to the police.

If an individual loses a loved one who had been fatally injured while on the job in New Jersey, he or she may be entitled to submit a workers’ compensation claim in order to receive death benefits. Although the compensation can do little to bring the victim back, if granted, it can help ease the financial burden of some of the end-of-life expenses such as medical bills and burial costs. The victim’s loved ones or family sometimes choose to consult an experienced workers’ compensation attorney to assist them in filing this claim in order to expedite the process.
