Victims of drunk driving accidents may require hospital attention

On Behalf of Fishman & Fishman, LLC | Jun 28, 2015 | Drunk Driving Accidents |

Drunk driving accidents seem to be a daily occurrence on New Jersey roadways. Luckily, many of them result in nothing more than a fender bender. Sometimes, however, drunk driving accidents have far more serious consequences, including injuring innocent victims.

A recent accident resulted in four people being sent to the hospital. It occurred early in the morning in Maurice River Township during the middle of June. The accident involved two cars — a small passenger car driven by a 25-year-old man and an SUV driven by a 49-year-old woman. Two female passengers were riding in the SUV, ages 20 and 22.

According to the preliminary information, the operator of the car was driving erratically. When authorities arrived, the car was in the grass on the one side of the road, while the SUV was found in the grass on the other side of the road. Both were heavily damaged. Everyone was rushed to a local medical center, where the man and one of the passengers from the SUV were treated for serious injuries. Reportedly, the car driver later admitted to drinking around five hard ciders as well as taking four or five shots of alcohol before driving that night.

If the gathered evidence supports a finding that the car driver’s negligence caused or contributed to the crash, the injured women may pursue personal injury claims against him in a New Jersey civil court. A successfully navigated personal injury claim may result in a monetary judgment. Any damages recovered in this manner can help assuage some of the financial matters that often arise as the result of drunk driving accidents. An experienced personal injury lawyer can help assess whether a viable claim exists and provide ongoing support in preparing and litigating any claim filed.
