Drunk driving accidents involving 9 vehicles

On Behalf of | Nov 20, 2017 | Drunk Driving Accidents |

When someone drives drunk, everyone on the road becomes a potential victim. Police say a man set off a chain reaction of drunk driving accidents that involved nine vehicles with injuries. In New Jersey and in every other state, drunk driving is a serious offense with severe consequences, including stiff fines and possible jail time.

Authorities responded to Washington Street in Easton at 11:00 p.m. for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they found a serious accident with one driver suffering from bodily injury. The driver who authorities believe caused the accident had fled the scene on foot on South 12 Street. Police located the man a short time later, but he was too drunk to speak or submit to a field sobriety test. A witness could identify him as the driver who had run from the crash.

The man, who lives less than two blocks away from where the accident occurred, has a suspended New Jersey driver’s license and an outstanding arrest warrant. Charges pending are vehicular aggravated assault, DUI and a host of other charges. A district judge set bail at $10,000 and an added $100,000 for the outstanding warrant.

Several families’ lives have been affected by one individual’s actions. Drunk driving accidents as horrific as this can cause serious medical, emotional and financial hardship for the motorists involved. In New Jersey, an astute personal injury attorney can examine the evidence and decide what legal steps are appropriate. A diligent lawyer can prepare and present a solid case and aggressively fight for the client’s rights.
