On Behalf of | Sep 24, 2017 | Drunk Driving Accidents |

Flowers mark the spot in Washington Township where a young mother recently lost her life because of someone allegedly driving drunk. Drunk driving accidents are a tragedy for all involved, but this one in New Jersey, is particularly tragic. The family is still in shock, and rightfully so.

The accident occurred on Route 42 on Sept. 15, 2017. Authorities say that the crash occurred when a 20-year-old man was driving a truck that crossed the center median and struck another vehicle. The driver of the other car, a 31-year-old mother of two small children, died at the scene of the accident.

Police claim that the driver of the truck was driving drunk, and this was not his first offense. He was driving on a suspended license and has had three previous DUIs. A reporter and prosecutor claim that the system is broken, and the end result is this mother’s death. Law enforcement had previously asked that the suspect be jailed after each arrest only to have him released with just restrictions. He is currently being held in jail on manslaughter charges.

Today a family is mourning the loss of their wife, sister and daughter, and two children are orphaned and emotionally scared forever because of one man’s negligence. All are left wondering how and why this happened. In New Jersey, where the laws and the consequences for drunk driving accidents are stringent, problems can still occur within the legal system. When this happen, the victims’ family may want to seek the legal guidance of an experienced personal injury attorney to determine what legal options they might have.
