An out-of-state construction accident recently occurred that seriously injured one construction worker and moderately injured another. The accident took place at a college campus and occurred at the same place that a deadly collapse occurred years before. When New Jersey workers are injured on the job in similar accidents, they are legally entitled to file workers’ compensation claims.
Authorities are currently investigating the exact nature of the accident, but the exact cause has yet to be determined. Police say that the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. The incident occurred when a beam that was in the process of being installed somehow fell off, injuring the two workers.
The injured individuals were working on an elevated platform in the building that was under construction. Fire officials had to bring them down in a basket by utilizing the department’s ladder truck, the chief with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said. According to Miami-Dade Fire officials, one worker was listed in serious condition, while the other’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening. At the same site, a parking garage collapse occurred in 2012, killing four and injuring seven other individuals.
