Big rigs and drunk driving accidents

Tractor-trailer crashes seem to be more common than ever on interstates today. The size of these vehicles alone is daunting and intimidating to those who drive next to them on New Jersey highways. Imagine how devastating it would be if a truck driver gets behind the wheel of one of these giant trucks drunk and causes a string of drunk driving accidents.

A horrific crash just like that occurred in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, on Sept. 7, 2017 at 3:36 p.m. The result, authorities say, of a truck driver allegedly drunk behind the wheel of a big rig. The truck driver has since been charged with driving under the influence. Prosecutors say that someone dialed 911 to report that the he was driving erratically prior to the crash. Authorities say it began on Route 440 south near the 2.7-mile marker

The truck that was driven by a 38 year-old man from Brooklyn, New York, crashed into a sedan and jack knifed, hitting two more vehicles. One of the vehicles was a sport utility vehicle being driven by a 45 year-old Ocean Township man. He died at Raritan Bay Medical Center after the accident. The other victims and the truck driver were all taken to a hospital in Perth Amboy to be treated for their injuries.

Many families in New Jersey have been left devastated and wondering how this could have happened. The emotional, physical and financial turmoil could impact the victims and families for a very long time. When faced with the aftermath of drunk driving accidents, victims may want to seek the advice and legal guidance of an experienced personal injury attorney to help them through this difficult time.
