2 injured workers may qualify for workers' compensation

Those who work in construction in New jersey may relish being able to work outdoors rather than be trapped inside an office. However, this line of work can also be very physically demanding and certainly dangerous. When construction workers are injured on the job, they are entitled to file for workers' compensation benefits.

A construction accident in another state sent two workers to the hospital recently, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The accident occurred on a recent Thursday morning in July. The workers were working on location at an airport.

Reports came in to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District that a building collapsed around 10:50 a.m. at Mather Airport. It turned out that a beam had fallen on the two workers, the fire district assistant chief said. The two were in the process of connecting two iron beams when one of the workers lost control, according to a Cal-OSHA spokeswoman. Additional information was not provided, as the accident is currently being investigated by Cal-OSHA. There has been no update on the workers' statuses.

While no workplace can necessarily be 100 percent safe and free from all risks, New Jersey employers must still utilize designated safety protocols in order to secure the safest environment for workers. This includes both equipping workers with safety tools and properly training them in their respective positions. When a work injury results in the injury of an employee, the worker typically consults an experienced workers' compensation attorney for legal assistance with filing the claim.
