A serious car accident that took place recently sent two individuals to the hospital. The collision occurred in Ocean County on a recent Monday in late April. When New Jersey residents injured in car accidents may be entitled to file personal injury lawsuits against the parties believed responsible.

The accident occurred in Lakehurst a little before 5 p.m. A 73-year-old Whiting woman was driving her vehicle west on Route 70 when, according to police, her vehicle was struck head on by a vehicle driven east by a 20-year-old man. Police say the man’s vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic.

The woman suffered significant injuries and was rushed to a local medical center in Neptune, police said. The man suffered minor injuries, but was still taken to a local medical center in Toms River. The accident forced authorities to shut down the road for around two hours. An investigation is ongoing.

It is not currently clear what caused the man’s vehicle to drift into the other lane of traffic. Nevertheless, personal injury claims may be filed in a New Jersey civil court with regard to this accident. If a the civil court rules that the driver’s negligence either caused or contributed to the injuries the woman suffered, then she may be awarded damages. These can be used to offset some of the typical costs associated with vehicular accidents of this nature, including medical bills and lost pay. Victims of similar car accidents typically choose to consult experienced personal injury attorneys for advice and assistance in seeking financial relief from the parties deemed responsible.
