A recent car crash claimed the life of one person. Two others were injured. The accident occurred on a recent Saturday afternoon in May in Pittsgrove Township. Victims of serious car accidents caused by the negligence of another party or parties are within their legal rights to pursue civil claims for monetary damages.

New Jersey State Police say that, around 12:30 p.m., a car driven by a 72-year-old Pittsgrove woman was in the southbound lane of a county road. She proceeded through a stop sign. A van driven by a 41-year-old Elmer man was traveling in the westbound lane of traffic and struck the woman’s vehicle on the driver’s side. It is not immediately clear what caused the woman to run the stop sign.

The police reported that the driver of the first vehicle was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. However, she was still partially ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Her male passenger was rushed to a local medical center, where his current condition remains unknown. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to another medical center for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation. Based upon the preliminary report, it appears that the driver of the first vehicle caused the accident by running the stop sign. In cases involving similar car accidents, appropriate evidence of negligence must be gathered and presented in court. The injured victims who suffered serious injuries in this accident as a result of the now deceased driver’s negligence have the right to seek financial relief in a New Jersey civil court from her estate. Typically, an experienced personal injury attorney is consulted to assist with this process.
