After accident, worker may seek workers’ compensation

An out-of-state construction worker suffered a severe work injury recently that resulted in a trip to the hospital. The man was reportedly partially run over on a recent Friday morning in February. The man had been at work at a construction site, local police said. Just as he will likely seek to file a workers’ compensation claim, construction workers in New Jersey who are injured while at work may be entitled to do the same.

The man’s injury was reported to local police around 11:25 a.m. that morning. Upon their arrival, the local fire department treated the construction worker’s leg, which was severely injured. The injury had reportedly occurred due to the man being run over by an earthmover. The injury was so severe that a medevac helicopter flew him to a nearby hospital so that he could be treated in the trauma center there.

This serious accident occurred at a construction site where a commercial property was being built. Local police detectives are still in the process of investigating this incident. In addition to the local police, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified and will conduct a separate investigation into the accident as well.

Any New Jersey worker who is injured while at work has the right to seek legal advice after such an accident occurs. In this workplace accident, the worker will be entitled to submit a workers’ compensation claim in order to recoup financial losses he may have experienced, including lost pay and medical bills. An experienced New Jersey workers’ compensation lawyer can help injured workers with similar types of legal claims.
