Intersection accidents and liability disputes: work with an experienced attorney

On Behalf of | Dec 9, 2014 | Car Accidents |

Motor vehicle accidents can occur in a variety of circumstances, for a variety of reasons. That being said, there are some situations and circumstances in which accidents are more likely to occur. High-traffic intersections, particularly those with fast-moving traffic, can set up the right conditions for particularly bad accidents.

Intersection accidents aren’t all the same, of course. Some of them are caused by failure to yield when turning left, taking a right into oncoming traffic or attempting to make it through at the tail end of a yellow light, or even after the light has already turned red. The latter is a particularly concerning problem and occurs at too many intersections.

One of the tools police officers have employed to battle red light running are red light cameras. As readers may know, red light cameras are a controversial topic both because of privacy concerns and because they may be overly punitive. Red light cameras have been tested in the state of New Jersey, though it isn’t clear yet whether they will become a permanent feature here.

Obviously, those who are harmed because of the negligent or reckless behavior of another driver at an intersection deserve to be appropriately compensated, if necessary by means of personal injury litigation. But it isn’t always easy to sort out the question of liability in intersection accidents, and it is important for crash victims to work with an experienced attorney to make sure their side of the story is told. Our firm is committed to zealously advocating for accident victims and ensuring their rights are protected.
